Democrats Are Actually Really, Really Glad Chris Dodd Has Dropped Out Of The Race
Now that the shock of Chris Dodd announcing he won't run to keep his Senate seat in 2010 has passed, Democrats are realizing that this is very good news for them.
"Democrats have a MUCH better chance of holding the Connecticut Senateseat in 2010 with State AG Richard Blumenthal as their nominee than they would have had Dodd run for re-election," a knowledgable political observer explained to us.
In other words, a Senate seat that was once "lean GOP" (with Dodd seeking re-election) is now "lean Dem" (with Blumenthal as the all-but-certain Dem nominee).
